Palace: Ex-cop's return may end Dacer-Corbito case

MANILA -- Malacanang hopes the extradition of former police officer Michael Ray Aquino will finally put closure to the double murder case of publicist Salvador "Bubby" Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the impending return of Aquino may set things straight and would finally put an end to the case.

"Michael Ray Aquino seems to be one of those people with a good grasp of what had happened in the Dacer-Corbito case and with his impending extradition, we hope that his coming back to the country will shed light on the matter and we hope that it will finally put closure to the case," Valte said.

Aquino was a close aide of Senator Panfilo Lacson, who was accused of ordering the abduction and killing of Dacer and Corbito in November 2000. Lacson was then commander of the defunct Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force (PAOCTF) and.

Also implicated in the case were former police chief inspectors Glenn Dumlao and Cesar Mancao who all worked at PAOCTF. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
