Bzzzzz: Who is tougher: Archival or Labella?

IT’S “most likely” that former Cebu City vice mayor Joy Augustus Young would give way to Councilor Nestor D. Archival Sr. for the VM slot of BOPK in the next elections.

Actually, a City Hall watcher says, it would depend on BOPK chief Tomas Osmeña “whose word rules on the party slate and most everything else.”

Archival, though, won’t need much push from Tomas as he topped the last elections among councilors for the north district. As of the last posting of GMA’s election tally on May 18, 2013, he led with 108,135 votes, followed by Councilor Mary Ann de los Santos with 101,134 votes.

Who’s Archival, aside from being the brother of that feisty and colorful lawyer Noel Archival who was murdered in an ambush last Feb. 18, 2014?

Nestor is vice chair of the City Council committee on environment. He’s also known as designer and owner of the Archival Eco House, a.k.a. “House close to nature,” billed as the only one in the country that operates without subscribing to an electric company.

Would Nestor perform better than Joy who lost to Edgar in 2013? That depends but reelectionist Labella of Team Rama already proved his voting prowess in both the north and south district, not just the north where Labella comes from. In the north in 2010, Labella also ruled the councilors race with 105,338 votes, followed by Jun Pe, with 97,546 votes, per official Comelec tally. And yes, Edgar survived the Sept. 18, 1998 sinking of mv Princess of the Orient that killed 453 people.

“One who could survive days and nights at sea could survive a mere election,” the City Hall source says.

Riding on 2 horses

CEBU City Councilor Mary Ann de los Santos may be riding on two horses or “namangka sa dalawang ilog.” She didn’t attend a BOPK gathering but sent her political lieutenants there where the announcement of her name got a loud cheer and standing ovation.

Would she stay with PPP-TSG something, or somersault to BOPK? “Abangan.”

Calling poll aspirants names

GUESS who were called names lately for seeking high office? Identify:

(a) “Hollow Man”

(b) “Blank Slate”

(c) “Bad News”

(d) “Marcos 2.0”

(e) “Noynoy 2.0”

An Inquirer.net story says they are (a) Mar Roxas (b) Grace Poe (c) Jojo Binay (d) Rodrigo Duterte (e) Mar Roxas.

Former Akbayan congressman Walden Bello made the tag, except that about “Noynoy 2.0” whose author was not identified. If you don’t need an explanation for each name, as applied to the presidentiable concerned, you agree with Bello or are perceptive enough to make the matches.
