DAVAO Trade Expo (Date) 2015, the flagship annual event of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII), is 80 percent set, organizers said.
"At present, we could say that we are 80 percent ready for Date 2015, now that we have already booked at least two of the three function rooms of SMX Convention Center," said Jonathan Suy, co-chair of the event.
He also said that 130 exhibitors have confirmed participation during the expo where 170 booths are to be set up.
Wilfred T. Teves, Date 2015 chair, said in a separate interview that on its 17th year, Date 2015 will highlight livestock, poultry and aquaculture and will bring experts from different industries to conduct free trainings, forums and sessions.
"We have partnered with national and foreign companies to share their expertise in various aspects in trade and agriculture. These are Alltech Philippines and Topigs Norsvin, among others," he said.
Altech is into producing animal feeds, while Topigs is engaged in swine production.
Organizers are also expecting to generate more revenues for in this year's staging of Date.
"We are targeting to double or even triple increase our sales generation from the previous trade expo in 2012, which featured the same industries as what we are highlighting for this year," Suy said, adding that Date 2012 was able to generate P233.439 million in revenues.
He said this year's expo cannot be compared to Date 2014, which only highlighted the banana industry.
Some 8,000 to 10,000 participants are expected to join the Date 2015, which centers on a theme: "Building Local Products for the Global Community."
"We believe that through this expo, we take part in building local products for the global community, that we can produce beyond the need of the country. We encourage more farmers to invest and be involved in this business and produce products that can be exported and also can be utilized locally," Teves said.
An agri-finance forum, dairy production and gamefowl industry will also take centerstage during the three-day expo.
Date 2015 is spearheaded by the DCCCII in partnership with the City Government of Davao, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Agriculture and Hogs Farmers Association.
It is also supported by the Davao Association of Veterinary Technical Representatives Inc., Minadanao Alliance of Dairy Industry Stakeholders Association, Goat and Sheep Raisers Association of Davao, Southern Philippines Egg Producers Association, Mindanao Integrated Aquaculture Association, Davao United Gamefowl Breeders Association, and Mindanao Game Fowl Breeders Association.
