GT Cosmetics to boost online marketing strategy

HOMEGROWN cosmetics manufacturing firm GT Cosmetics will double its efforts in promoting its products online by tapping bloggers based in Cebu.

"Social media have catapulted our growth and international presence. We have always believed in the power of our very own bloggers to put into greater heights not only our company but Cebu in general," said GT Cosmetics owner and chemical engineer Leonora B. Salvane.

Blog sites or online journals have evolved as effective social marketing tools for a lot of companies worldwide after its steady and significant number of followers proved influential enough to make or break a product image.

GT Cosmetics, which achieved phenomenal success through word-of-mouth and social media blogs, is one of the major sponsors of Best Cebu Blogs Awards, which happens Friday night at the Conference Hall of SM City Cebu.

The event will name the Top 10 Famous Blogs in Cebu, as well as award Cebu's best food blogger, personal blogger, photo blogger, travel blogger, technology blogger, and fashion blogger.

Bloggers, including the award's 40 finalists, are expected to attend the event Friday.

Salvane said the company will take this opportunity to launch a video making contest for all the bloggers in Cebu that will help push their beauty soaps and other cosmetic products in the market.

"The competition is also aimed at developing our local blogging and social media communities here in Cebu," she added.

Founded in 1992 as a home-based family business in the town of Liloan, GT Cosmetics have grown quite popular among the youth market composed of students and young professionals in Cebu and some parts of the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

A great number of overseas Filipino workers in Hong Kong, Dubai, and Japan also patronize its bar soap products and new line of cosmetic cream products, namely the night cream, day cream, sunblock, and toner.

The company clinched its first international client last October after a buyer from Europe read an article about its product in a blog. (PR)
