STI-WNU woodpushers rule Batang Pinoy qualifiers

KENNETH Allen Ballo-Allo Jr. and Ijie Feb Tenerife of STI-West Negros University claimed the top honors in the Under 15 division of the recently-held 2nd National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP)/Bacolod Chess Association Rapid Chess Bacolod Qualifying Games 2015 at the Gaisano Grand Bacolod mall.

The duo will be joined by eight other finishers who will represent Bacolod City in the upcoming 2015 Batang Pinoy Visayas Leg on August 23-28 in Romblon.

Other top qualifiers are: U15 - Japhet Pimentel of Bata Chess Club; Roy Amiez Junto, Trisha Mae Francisco and Princess Garcia of STI-WNU; and 12U - Tyrone Dale Yao and Nishel Mendoza of Bacolod Tay Tung High School, Jonmil Ignacio of Trinity Christian School, and Aliah Grace Belaño of Estefania Elementary School.

Office of the Youth and Sports Development coordinator Joey Puentevella encouraged the young players to enjoy the game of chess as he thanked their parents for their invaluable support.

The event was supervised by NCFP-Bacolod City coordinator James Toga alongside Bacolod City Sports Office over-all coordinator Aurelio Puentevella, and was held in cooperation with the Department of Education-Division of Bacolod. (HGD)
