Sungduan: Greatness

THE increasing number of coffee brands and products coming out in the market just shows how much Filipinos love to drink coffee. In fact for some, drinking their favorite coffee is already part of their daily habit.

The growing number of coffee enthusiasts in the country is the reason why instant coffee manufacturers continue to boom in business. This inspires them more to introduce different types of coffee flavors to suit the taste of their consumers.

Coffee innovator Great Taste, owned by Universal Robina Corporation, said they owe their success being the 5th most chosen brand in 2015 which is a big jump from number 11 in 2013, to all their clients.

“We thank the Filipino coffee drinkers for putting Great Taste to where it is right now,” URC Beverage Marketing Manager Julius Flores said during the launching of Great Taste White: Choose Great, Win Great Promo in Baguio City on August 5.

Great Taste is known as the innovator of the first concentrated coffee granules launched in the Philippines in 1970’s, the first complete 3 in 1 coffee mix in the 80’s, first local ready to drink tetra pack, white coffee in 2011, and resealable standup pouch including the first twin pack coffee mix brand. 

Flores said they get their coffee beans supply both in the country and abroad. He added that given the chance they will grab all opportunity to also acquire locally produced coffee beans particularly the Robusta variety which is also grown in Cordillera specifically in Kalinga Province.

Robusta is a type coffee bean used primarily in instant coffee and grown mostly in lowlands including in the different municipalities of Kalinga and other lower elevations of the mountain range.

Apart from Robusta the continued production of Coffee Arabica grown in Benguet, Mountain Province, and Ifugao is encouraged among all coffee stakeholders in the region.

Meanwhile, as URC’s way of giving back to the community, they recently launched the Great Taste White: Choose Great, Win Great Promo with more that P27 million worth of prizes at stake.

The promo which started on August 2 and will end September 18, 2015 will have a grand draw where one lucky winner will take home P3 million pesos in cash and an exclusive sneak peak into the Pinoy Big Brother experience with Daniel Matsunaga. Eight others will have the chance to win white Toyota Vios 1.3 E M/T.

The promo is also the company’s way of thanking the consumers for making the product the leading brand in the white coffee segment and to let more consumers savor greater wins according to URC President and Chief Executive Officer Lance Gokongwei in a press statement.

Charles Lim of Selrahco Management and Consultancy Services also attended the launching of the promo in the city which was witnessed by the local media.
