PAL to reroute flights due to N. Korea rocket launch

THE Philippine Airlines (PAL) said it plans to reroute its 12 flights from April 12-16 in view of the possible effects of North Korea's rocket launch.

PAL, in its website, said flights to be rerouted are:

* PR105 Guam-Manila

* PR105 San Francisco–Manila

* PR103 Guam-Manila

* PR103 Los Angeles-Manila

* PR107 Vancouver-Manila

* PR431 Narita-Manila

* PR407 KIX-Manila

* PR437 Nagoya-Manila

* PR467 Incheon-Manila

* PR434 Cebu-Narita

* PR111 Guam-Manila

* PR426 Manila-Fukuoka

PAL said “safety remains the cornerstone of PAL operations at all times, as it assures passengers that alternative flight paths will be followed within the said period."

The government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has announced that it will launch an earth observation satellite known as “Kwangmyongson 3” using an Unha-3 rocket between April 12 and 16.

Among the measures set by the Philippine government in anticipation of the rocket launch include advising the residents in Luzon to stay indoors during the planned launch, particularly between 6 a.m. and 12 noon, and banning of fishing and sailing activities in the flight path of the rocket.
