City generally peaceful during Holy Week: DCPO

THE observance of the Holy Week in Davao City was generally peaceful, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said.

"No untoward incident was reported by authorities here," DCPO spokesperson Senior Inspector Milgrace Driz said.

This developed despite the five to six hours power outage that hit the city on Easter Sunday.

"As far as we are concerned, wala naman na report na crime incidents ang mga police from various precincts na nangyari during the blackout," Driz said.

She said all police units in the city, particularly those deployed in churches and those on foot and mobile patrol, were directed to focus on their tasks and to be alert to maintain peace and order.

Mindanao suffered from an island-wide blackout from 1 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. of Easter Sunday after supply from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines was suddenly cut-off.

Driz said the Oplan Summer Vacation, including public assistance centers placed at strategic locations and transport terminals, airports and seaports, remain operational until summer ends.
