MANILA -- President Benigno Aquino III will visit the families affected by the recent typhoon "Gener" in Baseco compound in Manila Friday afternoon.
Aquino went to Iriga City Friday morning to pay his last respect to former Commission on Elections commissioner Vicente de Lima, the father of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, who died from colon cancer last Tuesday.
From Iriga City, the President will go straight to Barangay 105 in Baseco compound, said deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte.
Houses, mostly made of light materials, along Baseco's coast have been destroyed by barges, which were swept away by the storm surge.
While in Iriga, the President also took the opportunity to visit the wake of Private First Class Arwin Martirez of the Philippine Army.
Martirez was one of the 10 soldiers who were killed in action in Sumisip town in Basilan last July 26. (Jill Beltran/Sunnex)
