LP official remains 'hopeful' for Robredo rescue

MANILA -- After three days of search and rescue operations in Masbate, a Liberal Party (LP) official said they remain hopeful that Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo will be found alive.

"We are hopeful. We have a lot of divers helping out. From the Navy, PCG (Philippine Coast Guard), PNP (Philippine National Police), civilian divers, and foreign and local," Cavite Representative Joseph Emilio Abaya, also the secretary general of LP, said in a text message.

"Let's continue to pray for Secretary Jesse," he added.

Robredo, the former Naga City mayor, is also the executive vice president of the LP.

Abaya said he, along with Secretaries Mar Roxas (Department of Transportation and Communications), Butch Abad (Department of Budget and Management) and Ricky Carandang (Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office), volunteered to stay behind the rescue operations in Masbate.
