Bam Aquino: Our family has a history of public service

MANILA -- Presidential cousin Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV refuses to think of his family as a political dynasty and calls themselves "a family that has a history of public service."

The 35-year-old former television host is the nephew of Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. and cousin of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.

"In our case, I'd like to think that instead of looking at us as a political dynasty, we are a family that has a history of public service. We have a history of public service, which I am part to be proud of," he said after fling his certificate of candidacy before the Commission on Elections Friday morning.

Bam Aquino seeks to represent the youth in the Senate.

"I did (volunteer) and I think yan ang hinahanap sa mga kabataan ngayon (that's what the youths are looking for)," he said.

Like his cousin, Bam also supports the passage of a Reproductive Health (RH) bill, saying families should be provided family planning choices. (Kathrina Alvarez/Sunnex)
