MANILA -- Another suspected leader of a drug group and his two cohorts were arrested during a recent raid in Bulacan province, an anti-illegal drug official said.

Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr., the new director general of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, said the three suspects were nabbed by their operatives on October 24 by virtue of two arrest warrants.

Cacdac identified the alleged drug group leader as Gonzalo Bautista, alias Apong, 46, resident of Barangay Malhacan, Meycauayan, Bulacan. The two other suspects were Ernesto Borbe, 58, and his wife Elisabeth, 56, who also both hail from the said village.

Seized from the suspects were 12 plastic sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Bautista was arrested a few days after two other suspected drug group leaders were nabbed by operatives.

On October 19, authorities arrested the leader of the Brul Drug Group identified as Helder Brul, alias Boy, 59, and his son, Edwin, 36.

The two suspects, who both hail from San Pablo City, Laguna, are included in the PDEA target list of drug personalities operating in the said province.

On October 21, the alleged leader of the Dela Cruz Drug Group operating in Santiago City, Isabela, was arrested.

The suspect, identified as Roderick Dela Cruz, alias Erick, 31, is ranked ninth in the agency's target list of drug personalities in the said city. (Emmanuel Louis Bacani/Sunnex)
