Clark garment firm to open sewing school in Angeles

CLARK FREEPORT -- A garment factory inside the Freeport is set to open a sewing school in Barangay Cuayan in Angeles City.

The Communications Department of Clark Development Corporation (CDC) said that Luenthai International Group Philippines Incorporated (L&T) recently unveiled the project marker of the training facility.

The training school will be housed at the facilities of Tuloy sa Bahay Bata Foundation.

Tuloy sa Bahay Bata is a spin-off of the “Bahay Bata” which was initially established by the Rotary Club of Clark Centennial in the early 2000s.

It was turned over to Tuloy Foundation Inc. last June 13, 2015 through its founder, Catholic priest Father Marciano “Rocky” Evangelista.

Evangelista founded Tuloy in 1993 for the poor, abandoned, and homeless children. CDC has vowed to support Tuloy sa Bahay Bata Foundation, by helping finance its hydroponics/aquaponics projects as a form of livelihood for the beneficiaries.

The foundation is also a regular recipient of the state-run corporation’s gift giving program every Christmas.

High speed sewers are on high demand among garment manufacturers inside Clark Freeport.

During the launching event, L&T President Raymond Tan shared the company’s “strong commitment to giving back and humbly emphasized the importance of serving with the ‘heart’.”

Tan said this is the type of service that is embodied in the L&T’s corporate community service program. The L&T official said added that young adults within the community will also benefit from the said training school.

Other vocational courses that will be offered are automotive, dressmaking, computer technology, baking and culinary and electronics among others. The global leader in providing end-to-end apparel services is “not just respected in the business circle but also known as staunch advocate in caring for others.”

L&T is the biggest employer in Clark. As of June 30, 2015, the company has 5,367 employees.

CDC officials, led by president Arthur P. Tugade, recently visited Tuloy Sa Don Bosco Street Children Village in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
