Kris readies herself for showbiz retirement

QUEEN of All Media Kris Aquino gives herself three to five more years in the entertainment industry before retiring from showbiz work.

This was revealed recently by the tv host herself at the advance press screening of her upcoming primetime series "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw," which she stars opposite Anne Curtis and Robin Padilla.

"May nagsabi sa akin na set a number in your head, when you reach that number, know that you can retire," she said. "Ayoko talagang umalis na ayaw na talaga akong panoorin. Napaka-swerte ko pa ngayon kasi yung mga ginagawa ko ay nagra-rate, nagbabayad ang mga tao ng pera (sa movie)."

Kris said it is inevitable that at some point she will bid good bye in showbiz. Right now her goal is to provide a comfortable life for her two sons, Joshua and James, she said.

"Alam ko na darating yung panahon. Hindi naman selfish din sabihin na at some point in my life, gusto ko din malagay sa isang happy, peaceful, content and lasting marriage. And I know that could only happen 'pag hindi na ito ang trabaho ko," she said.

Kris, meanwhile, felt that now is the right time for her to do a project with Anne and Robin as she's already prepared to do the show.

"Life is short and my career is short. I always have that mindset that all of these can go away tomorrow so bakit hindi ko iga-grab yung project na ito. Hindi siya far fetch. Totoo kung sino kami ngayon kaya gustong gusto ko talaga," she said.

Kris also thanked the Talk, Game and Drama departments of her mother network ABS-CBN for allowing her to star in the series even with her busy schedule. She's now doing "Kris TV," "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw" and "Pilipinas Got Talent."

The tv host also gave her two cents worth about people who are rumored to be romantically linked to her. Kris clarified that she's not going out or dating model-turned-actor Daniel Matsunaga, saying that her close friend Vice Ganda was just teasing her.

Also, Kris denied that Mariel Rodriguez, wife of Robin, is jealous over her renewed bond with the actor.

"Wala siyang dapat ikaselos talaga kasi apart from work, we don't hang out. I'm very conscious of the fact... I'm very careful of boundaries, demarcation line, and kung ano lang yung dapat pag-usapan. Pati yung pag text and pag tawag, maingat na maingat ako. Only if it is necessary and important," she said.

She added that her son, James, will not allow any man in her life now.

"Gusto daw niya ng lolo. Yun talaga ang sabi niya 'Somebody old Mama so you could not kiss him anymore.' Nasanay kaming na its just the three of us. My two sons sleep with me, wake up with me, travel with me. Ang mundo namin umiikot sa aming tatlo." (Sunnex)
