THE Iloilo City Government and Gaisano Capital, a leading name in shopping malls in the Visayas and Mindanao, are attracting other government agencies to put up their regional or satellite offices at the Iloilo City Center soon to be put up by Gaisano along the Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. highway in Mandurriao district.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the idea is to attract National Government offices without its own building to come and relocate in Iloilo and establish their regional or satellite offices at the Gaisano complex.
He said he is referring to government offices and government owned and controlled corporations outside of the city to visit Iloilo.
Mabilog said he does not want that already established government offices will have to leave their present site and transfer to the Gaisano complex, so as not to disrupt the present set-up of government offices and services.
“With help from the National Government, these other offices may consider Iloilo City as their local locator site in Western Visayas. The city is the regional business, education and government center in the region and has sufficient facilities such as power and water which is due to be completed by next month,” Mabilog said.
The P2-billion Gaisano complex will have the tallest mix-use building of 40 stories high. It will be built at the 20-hectare Gaisano owned land and site development is already on the upswing.
Designed by TVA@P and Goldpeach Properties, the area will have a mix-use design for commercial, residential, restaurants, hotel, a water park and special shopping centers
Mabilog said the Gaisano-expanded investment is a faith entrusted to Iloilo City as it was among the first to put up a shopping mall here. The project will help push the city to realize earlier the dream of becoming a premier city by 2015. (Lydia C. Pendon)
