Teen faces rape raps

RAPE with homicide charges were filed Wednesday before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against the teenager who raped and killed a 22-year-old woman in La Castellana town, Negros Occidental.

La Castellana police chief Gary Alan Resuma said they have already filed the charges against the 19-year-old suspect, whose name is being withheld.

Resuma said the suspect voluntarily surrendered to Station 9 in Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) last Monday evening through the help of Bureau of Fire Protection personnel who is detailed in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod.

The suspect was formally endorsed by BCPO to the La Castellana police Tuesday afternoon, Resuma added.

BCPO officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Edgardo Ordaniel earlier said that the suspect also admitted to the crime, which was committed in Barangay Nato, La Castellana.

Resuma said there’s a possibility that the suspect has a companion, but the 19-year-old admitted that he is the lone perpetrator.

Resuma assured, however, the safety of the suspect while he is in police custody.

Meanwhile, violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002 was filed Wednesday before the City Prosecutor’s Office against the drug pusher who was nabbed in a buy-bust operation by the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (CAIDSOTG) at Purok Cereza 2, Barangay 27, Bacolod City, Tuesday afternoon.

CAIDSOTG head Santiago Rapiz said the charges were filed against Rodjet Bantad, 29, of Barangay 27, Bacolod, who was arrested after he handed to police poseur buyer two small plastic sachets of suspected shabu in exchange of P300 marked money.

Police recovered from him two plastic sachets of suspected shabu, P300 marked money, P1,255 proceeds money and a cellular phone.

The suspect is presently detained at the lock up cell of Bacolod City Police Office headquarters. (MAP)
