Delicious fare at Halo Restaurant

GOOD food, a cozy ambiance, and affordable prices—find all these and something a little extra at the Halo Restaurant.

Halo, St. Mark Hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, kicked off the New Year with the launching of a new menu.

According to Ross Maglasang, the hotel’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Halo’s new menu is geared towards the mid-market, notably young professionals, groups of friends, and families who hear Mass at nearby Redemptorist Church.

“The direction is ‘to share’,” she tells Sun.Star Cebu, pointing out that their previous offerings were mostly a la carte servings.

In line with this, Halo introduces the Chinese Set Menu and the Grilled Seafood Platter, both good for three to four people.

The Chinese Set Menu includes the bird’s nest soup, yang chow rice, chopsuey, and a choice of sweet and sour pork or fish.

Fish, squid, mussels, king-sized prawns and scallops make up the Grilled Seafood Platter.

The menu also includes more appetizers and beer matches such as the Crispy Baby Squid. Another new addition is the Mongolian station.

Mainstays on the menu are the popular breakfast buffet and the pasta-all-you-can.

Maglasang also emphasizes that even if one is not a guest, Halo is open to walk-in diners.

To promote the weekends, the restaurant holds acoustic nights every Saturday. From 6:30-11 p.m., enjoy great acoustic music from a variety of genres such as pop, country and folk.

Halo Restaurant is located at the 2/F St. Mark Hotel, along Queens Road, Redemptorist Plaza, Camputhaw, Cebu City.

Abacá garners Trip Advisor Travelers’ Choice Awards

THIS year, internationally-renowned Abacá Boutique Resort + Restaurant adds three more awards to its already full shelf, earning top honors on Trip Advisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards 2013.

The most luxurious and exclusive resort on Mactan Island was voted the winner, ranking number 1 of Top 20 Small Hotels in the Philippines. As well, Trip Advisor reviewers voted it number 3 of Top 25 Luxury Hotels in the Philippines and number 5 of Top 25 Hotels for Service in the Philippines. With these accolades, Cebu’s own Abacá Boutique Resort + Spa has outranked local favorites and national heavyweights.

A quick scan of the reviews makes it easy to see why Abacá Boutique Resort + Restaurant consistently finds itself at the top.

With its blissful oceanfront spa, first-rate restaurant, sixprivate suites, three sprawling villas, and an infinity pool that seamlessly transitions to the ocean, Abacá Boutique Resort does not only have happy customers, it has raving fans. And these fans account for Abacá’s first-place ranking as the Top Small Hotel in the country.

Abacá may be small in size, but it doesn’t scrimp on providing its guests with the luxurious experience they’ve come to the resort for. For New Year’s Eve, “the hotel hired a boat that took guests out to sea to watch the fireworks and drink champagne from various locations along the coast “– shares one reviewer from Phoenix, Arizona.

Abacá Boutique Resort + Restaurant is located on Punta Engaño Road, Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan, Cebu. For bookings and inquiries, e-mail reservations@abacáresort.com or visit www.abacáresort.com / www.theabacagroup.com.
