MacDonald's to build 3 new stores

THREE McDonald's restaurants will be constructed in Davao City this year, a top official announced.

Rebecca Roselada, Human Resource director of Golden Arches Development Corporation, the company that operates McDonald's in the Philippines, said construction of one of the three restaurants is now underway. All the three restaurants will be up in the downtown area.

Roselada revealed this at the sidelines of the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between McDonald's and Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) for the government's youth employment program Tuesday.

She refused, however, to elaborate on the exact locations of the three new restaurants pending the finalization of the projects.

"We will divide the construction of these three new restaurants per quarter until we finish them all. Isa isa lang muna (Just one restaurant at a time)," Roselada said.

Roselada said at least one of the three new restaurants is already on the construction phase and is expected to be completed by the end of March this year.

Each restaurant would cost an average of P44 million and a construction period that can last for 120 days or three months, according to Roselada.

By Christmas this year, Roselada said, Dabawenyos can expect three more restaurants in Davao City after they opened its ninth company-owned store in the city along Sta. Ana Avenue fronting the Holy Cross of Davao College.

There are a total of 11 McDonald's restaurants currently operating in Davao Region, nine in Davao City, one in Digos City and the other one in Tagum City.

Across the country, there are a total of 275 McDonald's restaurants operating and the company is eyeing to reach their 500-restaurant target by 2015.

Roselada said regular McDonald's restaurant can employ 30 crews and seven managers.
