Balibago all set for P3.5M CCTV system

ANGELES CITY -- Barangay Balibago chairman Rodelio Mamac said that they are now set to install some 48 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras worth P3.5-million here after announcing plans in July.

Mamac told Sun.Star Pampanga that the CCTV project for the barangay will include a monitoring room that will be manned by six individuals. The individuals will come from the barangay's persons with disability sector.

"The monitoring station will have a direct line with the local bantay bayan force and the police for quick response to emergency situations or crime incidents," Mamac said.

Banks, financial institutions, pawnshops, money lenders, money remittance services, money changers, convenience stores, drug stores, shopping centers, supermarkets, movie houses, hospitals, public transport terminals, hardware stores, and others are also included in the business establishments required to install CCTVs, Mamac said.

The cameras will also be situated in high density areas like Immaculate Concepcion Parish, Hadrian Extension, Santo Niño, and Arayat Street, all in Barangay Balibago.

Mamac added that the installation of state-of-the-art CCTV in areas where most businesses are and places frequented by the people is a deterrent against criminal activities.

Mamac added that they will also encourage business establishments and subdivisions, as well as schools and churches, to put up their own CCTV cameras to boost local security and crime prevention efforts.
