3 police offices, stations cited for fine performance

THE Police Regional Office-Davao Region (PRO-11) recognized on Tuesday three of the most outstanding police offices and stations in the region during the last quarter of 2012.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) was hailed the Best Police City Police Office while the Sta. Ana Police Station was named Best City Police Station.

Lupon Municipal Police Station was adjudged the Best Municipal Police Station in the region.

DCPO was recognized for its strong campaign against illegal drugs and the prevention of kidnapping incidents and apprehension of carnappers. It was also lauded for their various community relations programs.

DCPO Director Ronald M. dela Rosa, in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao, said they are elated their office was honored.

"Hopefully our police officers will be able to continue doing a good job," he said in the vernacular.

Sta. Ana Police Station under its chief Supt. Caezar Cabuhat, meanwhile, was acclaimed its anti-drug operations in their area of responsibility.

"Mas-partikular kasi ako dun sa mga nahuli naming tao ng drugs. So from September until present nasa 96 persons na ang nahuli namin. Andito kasi sa aming aor ang source ng drugs and kahit papaano, hindi namin ito pinabayaan (I am more particular with those that we have arrested for illegal drugs. So from September until the present, we have arrested 96 suspects. The source of drugs is in our aor and somehow, we were not complacent about it)," Cabuhat said.

He was glad to have won the award as they have been having a healthy competition with other police stations in the city.

"The healthy competition between our station and the different police stations in the city encourage us to excel in our work. That is why I encourage the other police stations to do their best," Cabuhat said.

Lupon Municipal Police Station under its chief Senior Inspector Melvin Joseph Violan, on the other hand, was praised for its efforts against illegal drugs, illegal possession of firearms and illegal logging. Their office has also been diligent in submitting budgsset, intelligence and operations reports.

The awards were presented by PRO-11 head Chief Supt. Jaime Morente.
