Cabantian wins 'Indak-indak'

THE Cabantian National High School won this year's Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan competition.

The entry from Davao City bested 14 other contingents from different parts of Mindanao, bringing home a cash prize P500,000, with P12,000 worth of fuel certificate from Phoenix and 100 pieces of shirts from Air Asia.

Cabantian National High School's performance depicted the story of the B'laan tribe where one of the members mistakenly offended the spirits of a giant tree and they conducted a musical ritual called Agungan to appease the spirit with the celebration of victory.

Also among the winners in the street dancing competition are the Sto. Niño National High School Kalingawan Dance Troupe from Sto.Niño in South Cotabato, who brought home a total of P400,000 cash prize as first-runner-up. Second-runner-up is the Dawan National High School from Mati City who brought home P300,000, while 3rd-runner-up is Polomolok Performing Arts Guild who brought home P100,000 and worth 50,000 cash prize for winning the Best in Musicality Award. Fourth-runner-up is the municipality of Baganga in Davao Oriental who brought home a total of P50,000.

The Dawan National High School from Mati City was was chosen to represent the city for the Aliwan Festival to be held in Manila.

Other participants included the Kapitan Tomas Central Elementary School Culture and Arts Dance Troupe, Tingagun Dance Troupe of Malabong, Lanang del Sur, Tribung Grandehon of Catalunan Grande, Optaciano Hilay National High School, Jose L. Porras Elementary School, San Luis National High School, San Luis Caraga Davao Oriental, Governor Generoso Davao Oriental, Sta. Ana High School Performing Arts Guild, F. Bustamante Central Elementary School, and Tribu Magpawa of Maragusan, Compostela Valley.
