Young entrepreneurs to hold session during international business conference

CEBU City will serve as venue for the 2013 Breakout Session of the Young Entrepreneurs Group of Asia Pacific (YEGAP). Entrepreneurs from various Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry member-countries are expected to attend the session.

YEGAP Chairman Anna Marie Periquet said the session is an integral part of the program of the 27th Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) Conference. The YEGAP Breakout Session will be held on March 14 at 9 a.m. at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cebu City.

Delegates will discuss trends and developments, concerns, and prospects for growth of entrepreneurship in the region. The participants also explored possible areas of cooperation among CACCI members in promoting entrepreneurship among the start-up entrepreneurs.

Periquet, who was reelected during the Kathmandu meet in 2012, will welcome the participants. She said distinguished speakers will share their best industry practices and business testimonials during the YEGAP breakout session. The speakers will include Teisuke Suzuki (Japan), president of Kamaboko, Inc., the largest fishcake manufacturer in Japan; Sujeewa Suranga Palliyaguruge (Sri Lanka), managing director of Senani Holdings, a group of companies ranging from tourism to hotel operations to retail; Steve Benitez (Philippines), president and CEO of Bos Coffee; and Kenjiro Oyama, chairman of the Japan Young Entrepreneurs Group.

Laura Del Rosario, Undersecretary for Economic Diplomacy of the Department of Foreign Affairs, will give a presentation on the status and prospects of entrepreneurship in the Philippines.

Periquet alsosaid that the 5th Asia Pacific Young Entrepreneurs Award would be formally launched during the YEGAP Breakout Session.

“The various programs of YEG-AP include the creation of business incubator facilities in universities, passing on of second expertise from universities and large enterprises to budding entrepreneurs, and providing training opportunities to SMEs through visits and attachments to large enterprises of CACCI member countries. YEG-AP also builds its network through trade directories, trade missions, business matching and sub-contracting businesses,” Periquet said. (PR)
