BUSINESS establishments based in Iloilo City bagged the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Bagwis Awards highlighting the World Consumer Rights Day celebration here on Friday.
DTI regional director Dominique Abad said the Bagwis Award was formerly known as DTI certified establishments that gives due recognition to establishments that uphold the rights of consumers while practicing responsible business where consumers get the best value for their money.
The search encourages the setting up of a sustainable consumer welfare desk (CWD) or an equivalent customer relations office inside the mall that will provide information to consumers and serve as a mechanism for the speedy resolution of consumer complaints.
Abad said it is open to all business establishments in five categories such as in supermarkets, department stores and specialty stores, appliance centers, hardware stores, and DTI accredited service and repair shops.
The Iloilo City-based establishments with Bronze Award covering 2006-2011 are Iloilo Supermart in Atrium, Molo, Jaro, Valeria, and Mandurriao in the supermarket category; Naces Appliance Sales Corp in appliance category, Naces Appliances Sales Corp in service and repair shop category, while Nissan Iloilo (S&J) Motors Inc. Honda Cars in Negros Occidental, and Mirola Merchandising in Ivisan, Capiz received the Silver Award for the same period.
The new awardees covering 2012-2013 are Doligosa Machine shop Corp for service and repair shop category Bronze Award and Honda Cars Iloilo for service and repair shop category Silver Award.
The other winners for the same period are Bronze Award for Mini Kuryente Electrical Retail Shop in Antique, and Silver Award for Next Gen Motors in Aklan and Mirola Merchandising in Roxas City.
The Gold Awardees for the period from 2006 to 2012 are Toby's Sports, For Me, Memo, Oxygen, Our Home at SM City Iloilo, Penshoppe at Gaisano City, Robinsons Iloilo and SM Iloilo; SM Department Store Iloilo, Ace Hardware in SM Iloilo and Delgado, and Sharp (Phils) Corp, all in Iloilo City.
The other Gold Awardees are Robinsons Place Bacolod, Robinsons Triangle Island Plaza, Chronos Time Center, For Me, Oxygen, Our Home, Penshoppe, SM Department Store, Ace Hardware and Sharp (Phils) Corp. -- all in Bacolod City. The other Gold winner is Penshoppe Gaisano in Roxas City.
Abad said the Bronze Awardees are those with compliance to the Consumer Act, Price Tag Law, PS/ICC Marks and welfare desk inside the mall.
The Silver Awardees are those achieving the Bronze requirements plus social responsibility, while the Gold Awardees are those achieving the Silver requirements plus some elements aligned to ISO 9001.
