James Yap denies sexual advances toward Kris Aquino

BASKETBALL star James Yap finally broke his silence as he denied that he sexually assaulted his former wife, Kris Aquino.

The Queen of All Media filed a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) against James alleging that the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) star had overstepped his boundaries and attempted to seduce her while visiting their son, James Jr. (popularly known as Bimby).

Kris has asked the court to order James to keep a distance of at least 100 meters from her, Bimby and their household staff. She also asked the court not to allow James to go near the kid's school and their home.

In an emotional TV Patrol interview aired Wednesday evening, James recalled the December 3, 2012 incident, which started the latest controversy between the ex-couple.

James said that he was saying goodbye to his son when he joked that he will kiss Kris if Bimby will not give him a goodbye kiss.

"Ang sabi ko 'Bimb kiss mo na si Papa kasi aalis na.' Sabi ni Bimb 'I don't like.' Tapos ako naman ang sabi ko 'Bimb kapag hindi mo i-kiss si Papa, iki-kiss ko si Mama.' Tapos ang raction ni Kris 'Yuck! Yuck!" James said.

He said he went near Kris and held her in the arms. This was the time when the Queen of All Media allegedly started to react negatively on his touch.

"Hinawakan ko siya. Tapos paghawak ko sabi ko sa kanya 'Bimb look, iki-kiss ko na yung Mama mo.' Tapos si Kris biglang nagsabi na 'Sinasaktan mo ako!" he added.

James said the young boy taught that the basketball player was hurting his mother and the five-year-old immediately went to his mom and hugged her.

"Akala talaga sinasaktan siya. Nag-react yung bata tapos sabay hinawakan ko siya and then gumitna yung bata sa amin. Yung hinug niya nakatalikod sa akin si Bimb, nakaharap siya tapos ang mukha ni Kris gumaganun-ganun (make face) siya," he said.

"Tapos sinumbong ko kay Bimb na 'Look, look at your Mama's face she's smiling.' Tapos pag tingin ni Bimby galit-galitan nanaman siya," he added.

James said there's no truth to Kris' allegations that he attempted to sexually assault her.

"Tapos yung sinasabi ni Kris na rapist ako or ano man yung nakasulat diyan (sa TPO), walang katotohanan yan. Never ko siyang sinaktan o kinagalitan ng kung anuman, takot ko lang," he said.

He added that at one point he tried to discuss Bimby's attitude with his ex-wife. But James said Kris remained silent and later on dropped the name of her older brother, President Benigno Aquino III.

"Sa tingin mo ba hindi ako nasasaktan sa ginagawa mo? Wala siyang ibang masabi. Ang sinasabi niya 'Baka nakalimutan mo may three years pa yung brother ko," James said.

James clarified that he has already moved on from Kris and there are no more "sparks" between them.

He said he was just hurt by how his son is treating him now.

"As a tatay nasasaktan ako kasi sinasabihan ako ng anak ko na 'I don't like you. You're a liar.' Iniisip ko ano bang ginawa ko? Wala naman akong ginawa," he said.

James said he's fighting this new battle against his ex-wife for the sake of their son.

"Pag sinasabihan ako ng masasakit na salita ng anak ko, sasabihin ko na lang 'Bimb, tingin ka sa mga mata ni Papa. Ito na lang masasabi ko sa iyo, love na love ka ni Papa," he said.

Kris and James married in 2005. After five years of marriage, the Queen of Talk confirmed that they are separating.

In February 2012, a local court annulled their marriage.

As of this posting, James requested for a hold departure order for his son and Kris. The television, host on the other hand, filed a Permanent Protection Order, which will be discussed in court on April 8. (Sunnex)
