Michael Cacnio: Philippines premiere brass sculptor features Milestones

CATCH your breath; pause for a while; embrace your moments; and don’t let them pass you by.

These moments are called Milestones and beautifully sculpted moments are presented at the Italia Restaurant and in cooperation with Charlie’s Art Gallery by Michael Cacnio, world class brass sculptor of the surrealist genre.

Michael is a son of Malabon and is a product of UP Diliman, College of Fine Arts. Starting his creative life as a painter, he found his true calling in the art of sculpting brass. In 2006, Michael Cacnio was proclaimed as one of the TOYM awardees and has been acclaimed in his more than 50 well received solo exhibits in Asia, Europe and the United States. His works are frequently featured in broadcast media and several reputable publications. In 2007, he became the first Filipino artist to be featured in the first solo exhibit in the European’s Commission headquarters in Barleymont, Brussels.

Twenty years in the artistic world and at the forefront of the Philippine art scene, top corporations, art collectors and dignitaries treasure his art work. His characters, taken from Filipino traditional archetypes, reveal enduring truths about family life, human nature and the community.

For a whole month, Negros can savor the brilliance of this artist delivered in his distinct signature style. The show opened last March 16 and will be ongoing for a month. Be captivated by his works especially the emotions surrounding the realization of certain moments in life. Feelings of hope, love, wonder, awe, innocence and glee which have profound effects in the every moment of one’s life are so magnificantly captured in brass.
