City expects P1.6B tourist receipts

THE Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) is expecting some P1.6 billion of tourists receipts will be generated from August 2014 to August 2015.

CTOO expects some 120,000 tourists arrivals from August 2014 to August 2015 wherein 100,000 were recorded last year and 20,000 more expected this year.

CTOO officer Lisette Marques said that to achieve some P1.6 billion tourists receipts, the city should reach the target of 120,000 tourist arrivals.

"The average of tourists' stay here is three and a half to four days with an average of P4,000 worth of expenses per day so if we will calculate it, it will reach around P1.6 to P1.9 billion in revenues," she said.

"The actual data for this year's tourists arrivals will be released sometime in September," she added.

She said that they are positive to achieve the target with tourism campaigns conducted within the period such as VDFS 2015 and Kadayawan festival this year.

The gross tourists receipts will be composed of the tourists expenses on airlines, transportation, tours, foods, pasalubong, hotels, among others.

Meanwhile, the tourism office also conducted exit surveys at F. Bangoy International Airport during the recently-concluded Kadayawan festival to record and track tourists' substantial reports and comments during their stay in the city.
