Board game spots in the Metro: Fun on the floor

NAMED after the Korean word that loosely translates to “sitting on the floor,” Café Maru gives several reasons for customers to pretty much do just that—to relive childhood days when fun meant being on the floor with toys all around, and a glass of milkshake right in time for snack break.

Fittingly so, the quaint café is designed like a kid’s bedroom, adorned with cute trinkets and an area at the back that has low-level tables, surrounded by shelves filled with board games, toys, books and magazines. Customers can freely use the toys and board games there as they enjoy the café’s offerings of butter bread, cakes, pastries, coffee and milkshakes. The toys are mostly ones that can be played by groups, while its board games include chess, Chinese checkers, Snakes and ladders, and jigsaw puzzles. Food, drinks and games combined—it definitely makes the perfect excuse to sit and lounge on the floor! Café Maru is located in Gov. M. Cuenco Ave., Banilad, Cebu City.
