Binay to open Hanjin employees village in Zambales

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT -- Vice President Jejomar Binay will formally open Hanjin Shipyard’s employees housing on Saturday in Castillejos, Zambales.

Hanjin’s 30-hectare housing project is located in Sitio Nagbayto, some 30-minute drive to Hanjin main shipyard facility in Barangay Cawag, Subic Zambales.

Hanjin Heavy Industries provided the land and the house for the employees as part of its employees’ benefits.

The project was made possible through the “Housing Needs Matching Program” of Pag-Ibig.

The cost to employee is reduced by the exclusion of marketing cost due to needs matching, as well as salary deduction arrangement and other commitment of employer to Pag-Ibig.

The Hanjin Village, which will initially benefit at least 2,000 employees, has two phases. Phase 1 occupied 12-hectare lot with 1,000 housing units. Of this number, 300 housing units are now ready for occupancy.

The shipyard workers will be able to choose from three house types: one bedroom duplex, two–bedroom duplex, and three-bedroom single attached, with land area from 55 to 65 square meters and package price from P399,000, P499,000 to P599,000.

The same scheme will apply for Phase 2 of the project. (Anthony Bayarong)
