Angara vows support for CIA expansion

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Senatoriable Edgardo “Sonny” Angara said on Saturday that he is supporting the expansion of the Clark International Aiport (CIA).

“Definitely, I will push for the expansion and further development of the Clark Airport. At its current status kasi, it looks like may anak kang genius pero hindi mo pinapag-aaral. Clark Airport can stand on its own and is already a premier airport with its facilities,” he said.

In a press forum with Pampanga media at King’s Royale Hotel and Resort here, he also admitted having Kapampangan roots of which he is very proud of.

“My relatives are here and I am very proud of my Kapampangan roots in the families of the Moiseses and Manalangs. I truly admire the Kapampangan culture of intellect and heritage, truly being the cultural elite,” he said.

Angara said that aside from supporting the expansion of CIA, he will also push for greater tourism infrastructure development that will benefit not only Central Luzon but the entire country.

“I have included this in my platform which includes education and jobs generation and employment. Just imagine how many more people Clark could employ once it is expanded and fully developed? Once our proposal for the East-West or coast to coast road from Aurora to Subic is realized, everything will be interconnected, huge economic benefits will come to the region,” he told Sun.Star Pampanga in a post press conference interview.

Angara prides himself with a lot of beneficial laws passed at the House of Representatives including the Expanded Senior Citizens Act and the Salary Standardization Law for employees and teachers.

Angara also highlighted the importance of constructing vital infrastructures that would connect Aurora province to the rest of Central Luzon.

Angara said the extension of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway would pave the way for better interconnection of Central Luzon and development of the vital potentials of Aurora.

Angara said the legislation aspect of the interconnection would be a vital part of his legislation agenda when he is given a chance in the Senate.

"These would benefit millions of people in the area and neighboring towns and provinces," Angara said, stressing the need for the development of a world-class seaport in Aurora.

Angara said that the coast-to-coast interconnection of Central Luzon would usher in further development for the Clark and Subic Freeports and open Aurora to tourism, cutting off travel time in half.
