Kapuso stars grace Panaad Festival opening

THREE of GMA Network's most sought artists Dingdong Dantes, Max Collins and Julie Ann San Jose added more color to Negros Occidental's Panaad Festival opening last April 8 at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

In a press conference held at Planta Centro Bacolod Hotel, each of the Kapuso stars shared a thought or two while candidly answering questions from members of the Bacolod press.

Dantes, a multi-awarded actor, TV host and producer, expressed his gratitude to the Negrenses and reiterated that he considers Bacolod City as his second home. He also said that he firmly remains to be a Kapuso. He revealed that he has upcoming projects but they are still in the planning stage.

Collins, after a stint as Dingdong's lover in Pahiram ng Sandali, is now eager to thrive in an independent film "The Bamboo Flower" under the direction of Maryo J. Delos Reyes.

"It is an honor to be one of the casts. I truly appreciate indie films because it is very organic," she said.

The nifty and versatile singer-actress Julie Ann San Jose spilled the beans on her upcoming projects. After her self-titled album reached Triple Platinum Status, she will have a concert at the Music Museum on May 11. She is also up for another album, a concert in Los Angeles, California, and more music videos.

When asked about her being compared to Sarah Geronimo, she said: "Si Ms. Sarah kasi, siya nay un eh... kumbaga ako nag sisimula pa lang. I mean ngayon pa lang nagsisimula ang flow ng career ko. Six years pa lang ako sa showbiz. Iba si Ms Sarah, iba din ako.”

As to her dream role, she longs to be an action star and dreams to have Robin Padilla, not necessarily as her leading man but an actor she can work with in a movie project.

After the press conference, they headed to the Panaad Park and Stadium and rocked the night as the 20th Panaad Festival kicked off. (Chona Malinog)
