Sun.Star holds FB discussion on poll violations

CEBU CITY -- Do you have something to report regarding campaign violations committed by candidates in your areas?

Sun.Star, at www.sunstar.com.ph, will hold an online discussion on Wednesday, April 17, through Facebook to help the Commission on Elections (Comelec) monitor election campaign violations, and at the same time, help the public raise their concerns/complaints to proper authorities.

An election officer from the Cebu City Comelec was also invited to take part in the discussion to answer election-related questions from netizens and explain the process in formally filing a complaint to Comelec.

The discussion will run from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. but netizens can still post pictures or videos of election violations even after the event.

Matters also to be discussed include how effective the Comelec's anti-epal campaign is, how responsive the voters are of today, and how aware they are of the election campaign violations.

To take part in the discussion, simply go to the "Sun.Star -- Philippine News" events page on Facebook, click on the event "Sumbongero Forum," and hit "Join" to be able to post on the event's wall.

Here are the mechanics in posting photos of violations:

1. Take photos of illegal campaign materials in your respective communities.

2. Post the photos on Facebook, through the event, with a caption and your comments.

3. Caption details include the area where the photo was taken, candidate involved, and where the material was posted.

4. Explain why you think the material violates the Comelec rules.
