Angeles City vice mayor named outstanding local legislator

ANGELES CITY -- Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting was named anew on Wednesday as one of the recipients of the Outstanding Local Legislator Award (OLLA) 2015 from the prestigious Superbrands Marketing International Inc. (SMI)-Philippines.

SMI is an award-giving body engaged in consumer and service products that acknowledges the efforts of public servants and business organizations in their role towards nation building.

Vega-Cabigting was among the public servants across the country recognized by SMI-Philippines for her significant role in crafting laws and implementing projects geared towards nation-building. She was also an OLLA awardee last year.

“Vega-Cabigting’s dedication in pursuing her seven-point legislative agenda which includes women empowerment, health issues and concerns, education governance, environmental management, institutional networking and research, barangay and community empowerment and culture and arts appreciation is a solid testament of her commitment to serve the people and her city,” said SMI-Philippines president and CEO Harry Tambuatco in honoring the three-term vice mayor.

SMI-Philippines said “the institutionalization of Barangay VAWC (Violence Against Women and Children) Desk, Sulong Kalusugan Caravan and Mobile Clinic, Support for Brigada Eskwela, Kabuhayan Patrol, Buntis Assembly, Sulong Kaalaman, Zumbarangay and Zumbaskwela, USAP or Ulat sa Paglilingkod, Scholarship Program, Linis Brigada and Gabay sa Paghimlay” are among the pro-people projects cited by Angeles City residents which were initiated by Vega-Cabigting and formed part of the basis for her selection.

“Vega-Cabigting has always broken barriers in the field of politics. In 2007, she became the first woman vice mayor of Angeles City. Despite her humble beginnings, she has made a name in Angeles politics through sheer hard work and dedication with prayers as her best secret weapon,” the SMI-Philippines added in conferring the accolade.

In her acceptance speech, Vega-Cabigting thanked Superbrands for making legislators feel “S.U.P.E.R” by acknowledging their “S-incere public service, U-tmost dedication in their work, P-erformance, E-mpowerment of their constituents and R-esponsible implementation of their work.”
