ASIDE from topping the foot race, participants in the 3rd Bishop’s Run recently held at the Burnham Lake Drive were also given a chance to help in preserving the cleanliness as well as the safety of Baguio residents and visitors who frequent Baguio’s premier park.
Jay Lomyog trailblazed the 21-kilometer (21K) run with a time of one hour and 43 seconds while Lisa Maranan had a time of one hour, 21 minutes and 11 seconds to win the distaff in the foot race which allowed runners to traverse a stretch of historic Camp John Hay.
Under the 10K category, Cesar Castaneto bested other male runners at 29 minutes and 51 seconds, while Nerenna Ballerena finished at 42 minutes and 45 seconds.
The 5K category brought out the best from Arnold Galap at 18 minutes and 57 seconds while Cherry Doronilla clocked 26 minutes and 16 seconds.
Ike Kevin Yagin and Lilia Yatar ruled the 3K adult side with at 10 minutes and 22 seconds and 14 minutes and 40 seconds, respectively.
Kiddies Yussef Lorana tackled the 3K with 11 minutes and 34 seconds, while Chrislyn Cudli clocked 17 minutes and 18 seconds.
Proceeds of the annual Bishop’s Run are being used primarily to augment the financial needs in the fencing of the park’s perimeter and other park-related activities of the Bishop Carlito J. Cenzon Foundation.
Organizers also handed a recognition token to 74-year-old Rev. Camilo Villanueva of the Our Lady of Charity Basilica of Agoo,La Union who finished last under the 21K category. Special prizes were also handed out to the earliest runners to arrive at the venue.
The annual Bishop’s Run is being coordinated by the Burnham Park Fencing Committee under the Bishop Carlito J. Cenzon Foundation with Alou Meneses as the overall coordinator, and in coordination with the City Government of Baguio.
The Bishop’s Foundation was supported by the John Hay Management Corporation, Porta Vaga, Smart, PLDT, Beneco, BB-PICAG, Alcema Realty Development Corporation, Cool City and Mr. Donut.
