THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Leyte Provincial Office, headed by director Desiderio P. Belas Jr., is supporting the participation of 44 Leyte exhibitors in the upcoming Bahandi Regional Trade Fair on September 2-6.
The event will be held at Megatrade Hall 2, fifth level, Mega B, SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.
In preparation for the event, a two-day seminar on Basic Bookkeeping, IT Solutions and Food Safety was recently conducted by DTI Leyte for identified producers/exhibitors of the province who will participate in the said affair.
The Bahandi Regional Trade Fair 2015, organized by the DTI-Eastern Visayas led by Regional Director Cynthia R. Nierras, will showcase the region’s products, including processed food items such as the famed chocolate moron, suman, bokayo, binagol, gifts decors and handicraft furniture and furnishings, fashion accessories, as well as the region’s tourism destinations.
This event is also one way of DTI’s efforts to help the Typhoon Yolanda-affected SMEs in Eastern Visayas to fully recover and expand their market.
DTI Leyte is keen in developing and promoting MSMEs in the province. It continues to provide Leyte entrepreneurs with the various DTI programs and services such as the Small and Medium Enterprises Roving Academy, (SMERA), Shared Service Facilities (SSF), Livelihood Seeding Program, Buttom-Up Budgeting (BuB), Negosyo Center and the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).
Under these programs, DTI Leyte conducts trainings on livelihood, capacity development and proper business management, distribution of starter kits and equipment to Yolanda affected entrepreneurs and producer associations, establishment of Negosyo Centers to various local government units, and loan facilitation and consultancy services.
