Comelec deploys ballots, boxes

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) will start the deployment of the official ballots and ballot boxes.

Election officer Milagros Salud Villanueva said over radio dyRL that the city will receive the ballot boxes in addition to the ones placed under the custody of the City Treasurer's Office.

She said the city needs the additional ballot boxes because some boxes were sent to Comelec-Manila in the past.

The additional boxes will be placed at the Bacolod Arts and Youth Center, and candidates and citizens’ organizations can send their representatives and watchers to witness the deployment, said the Comelec.

The Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines will be deployed for final sealing on May 10.

Villanueva also said that the canvassing of votes will be done at the session hall of the City Council, in accordance with the Comelec Resolution 9048, Section 11.

“This is the law and we have to abide by it. If there is a change of venue, you need to request for authority from the Comelec en banc. All local government units are mandated by the law to hold the canvassing at the session hall of their councils,” she said.
