Abang Lingkod grand rally to push through

STEPHEN Paduano aka Carapali Lualhati, number one nominee of Abang Lingkod Party List, said that their grand rally today will go on and they are hoping for reconsideration from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

He said that Comelec’s decision of disqualifying Abang Lingkod is unfair with barely a week before the people go to their respective precincts and vote.

"It is very unfair for the people of Negros who already made their decision to support and vote Abang Lingkod as a party list group. Our lawyers in Manila are checking the veracity of the reports and will do the appropriate steps to probably ask for Comelec's reconsideration," said Paduano in a telephone interview last night.

After applying the new guidelines set by the Supreme Court (SC), Comelec on Monday decided to approve the candidacy of more 24 party-list groups and maintained the disqualification of 12 others, including Ang Galing Pinoy party-list.

Ang Galing Pinoy, a group supposedly representing security guards, is represented by Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo, a son of former President and now Pampanga representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

The following groups were also barred from the party-list race: Agapay ng Indigenous Peoples Rights Alliance, Inc. (A-Ipra); Abang Lingkod Party-List (Abang Lingkod); Alliance for Nationalism and Democracy (Anad); Atong Paglaum, Inc. (Atong Paglaum); Kaagapay ng Nagkakaisang Agilang Pilipinong Magsasaka (KAP); Coalition of Senior Citizens in the Philippines, Inc. (Senior Citizens); Social Movement for Active Reform and Transparency (Smart); 1st Kabalikat ng Bayan Ginhawang Sangkatauhan (1st Kabagis); The True Marcos Loyalist (for God, Country and People) Association of the Philippines, Inc. (Bantay); Philippine Coconut Producers Federation, Inc. (Cocofed); and Binhi-Partido ng mga Magsasaka Para sa mga Magsasaka (Binhi).

The 24 groups, which retained their accreditation, were: 1st Consumers Alliance for Rural Energy, Inc. (1-Care); Bayani Party List (Bayani); Alliance of Advocates in Mining Advancement for National Progress (Aama); Aksyon Magsasaka-Partido Tinig ng Masa (Akma-PTM); AKO Bicol Political Party (AKB); Ang Agrikultura Natin Isulong (Aani); United Movement Against Drugs Foundation (Unimad); Action League of Indigenous Masses (ALIM); Firm 24-K Association, Inc. (Firm 24-K); Association for Righteousness Advocacy on Leadership (Aral); Butil Farmers Party (Butil); Action Brotherhood for Active Dreamer, Inc. (Abroad); 1-Bro Philippine Guardians Brotherhood, Incorporated (1Bro-PGBI); Alliance for Rural Concerns (ARC); 1 Guardians Nationalist Philippines, Incorporated (1Ganap); Blessed Federation of Farmers and Fishermen International, Incorporated (A Blessed); Alliance of Bicolnon Party (ABP); Alliance for Rural and Agrarian Reconstruction, Incorporated (Araro); Association of Philippine Electric Cooperatives (Apec); Adhikain at Kilusan ng Ordinaryong Tao Para sa Lupa, Pabahay, Hanapbuhay at Kaunlaran (Ako-Bahay); Agri-Agra na Reporma Para sa Magsasaka ng Pilipinas Movement (Agri); Aangat Tayo Party-List Party (AT); Green Force for the Environment Sons and Daughters of Mother Earth (Greenforce); and Kapatiran ng mga Nakulong na Walang Sala, Incorporated (Kakusa).

Paduano said that they were surprised by the Comelec’s decision and is also unfair for their supporters who have showed so much enthusiasm during the campaign and hoping for their representation in congress.

Paduano is the former national commander of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Bongcayao Brigade (RPA-ABB).
