Iglesia to launch medical services

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) in the Ecclesiastical District of Pampanga will be launching "Kabayan Ko, Kapatid Ko" project offering free medical, dental, and relief services to Kampangans.

This will be held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, this city.

According to members of the INC, the church administration under the leadership of Brother Eraño Manalo is targeting a minimum of 40,000 non-INC member-beneficiaries for the province of Pampanga alone based on the lists earlier submitted by the brethren.

Kabayan Ko, Kapatid Ko is in response to the needs of those living in extreme poverty, whether they are INC members.

"We were doing this in accordance with the biblical teachings to love and care for others," a church minister said.

This activity will be led by Pampanga district minister Manuel Soriano Jr., along with two other deputies, ministers assigned in various locales in the province, and INC health workers.

Kabayan Ko, Kapatid Ko was first launched a day after the 50th death anniversary of INC founder Felix Ysagun Manalo (FYM), whom Iglesia members revere as God's last messenger.

"The INC and the FYM Foundation have long been responding to the needs of those victimized by disasters, both natural and man-made. This time, we have expanded these efforts, as we want our poor countrymen to feel that they are not alone, that there is someone aware of their needs. They are our brothers, too," Brother Glicerio Santos, INC general auditor, said. (Herbert P. Mapiles)
