THE Provincial Comelec Office is now making preparations, in case the barangay elections nationwide pushes through as scheduled in October this year.
Lawyer Wil Arceno, Acting Provincial Comelec Supervisor, said that Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes only made a recommendation for the postponement of the barangay election to another date because they are not yet through with the recently concluded May 13 elections.
There are still so many processes and disqualification cases as of this time, Arceno said citing the Comelec's job all over the country relative to the May 13 elections.
He said that Brillantes only proposed that the Comelec should also have some rest before another election is held.
As of this time, Arceno said that there is no Calendar of Activities yet for the barangay elections.
The barangay polls is going to be a manual election.
Arceno meanwhile reminded everyone that the gun ban is still being implemented until the end of the election period on June 12.
He said that his stay in the province will also be until June 12 only and that he will go back to his original post as provincial election supervisor of Antique and Atty. Jessie Suarez will also resume his post here as Comelec Provincial Supervisor. (TDE)
