BOARD member Patrick Lacson reveals some problems besetting the K to 12 Program of the Department of Education (DepEd).
Lacson said that he was able to discover the problems after he recently met with about 70 para teachers for kindergarten in the 3rd district.
The problems raised he said included the meager salaries of para teachers for kindergarten with only P3,000 per month. Worst, he said because the release of the salaries is delayed since December last year. Some were only able to receive their salaries recently.
Lacson also pointed out those DepEd officials that had admitted publicly that they lacked classrooms here in Negros.
"What is also alarming is the fact that this is a nationwide dilemma of DepEd. Before they fully implement K to 12 they have to address further preparations for parents and students (adjustment) and prioritize budget for additional teachers," Lacson said.
Lacson also disclosed that he has brought up the matter with DepEd Assistant Reynaldo Laguda, who he committed to bring all these K to 12 feedbacks and assessments to the DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro.
Lacson added that Representative Albee Benitez of the 3rd District has also committed to meet up with DepEd officials and discuss these matters as well as in the education committee in House of Representatives.
