Kaizen Davao: Changing students for the better

IF A school nurtures the minds of the students to help them achieve what they want to become in the years to come, then what does a tutorial center can do for them?

It can be supplementing whatever learning the students have acquired at the school and giving them the clarity they need of the lessons that seem to be so unclear.

This is especially true for the young students who cannot brave the shame of giving flesh to their thoughts before the crowd of other students and a teacher, and so they will choose to keep to themselves the words they cannot utter all because of fear that their answers may be all wrong. Another reason can simply be the fact that no one believes in them.

There are many things that a student can get at the tutorial center which he cannot get within the four corners of a classroom.

Among them is the joy of having someone to talk to, someone a student can speak his mind with, and a buddy who can help him out improve his weaknesses at the school through a tutor. Thus, the role of tutorial center is as important and critical as that of a school.

To give what students deserve for learning is what Kaizen Davao Tutorial Center Inc., the latest tutorial center which opened last May 18, promises to do for the prospect clients who choose to enroll at the center for this school year.

"Kaizen" is a Japanese word which means "Change for the better" or "Good Change." There's no question why its name was taken after such a word since the tutorial center vows to bring about change in the lives of the students by way of improving their views about schooling.

“(It’s) a good translation of our desire to improve ourselves, our students, our teachers and other people we come across with,” Maricel S. Fuentes-Felix, president of Kaizen Davao, said.

The idea of putting up a center started out as a dream upon seeing the needs of students for quality education.

"Everything started in a dream, a long-time desire sowed in prayer.

Seeing the needs of the students, and the opportunity to meet such a need through excellent service," she said.

Fuentes-Felix shared that two of the founders of Kaizen sought the help of a public accountant to look for a venue where it can house the tutorial center.

"And, after careful planning and seeking for God's help, God provided the means for Kaizen to come true," she said.

More than its role to help the students in their studies, Kaizen seeks to mold the students holistically by way of shaping up their self-worth upon maximizing their full potentials to be among the responsible citizens who will run the nation in the years to come.

Kaizen is so rooted upon its mission “to inspire the students create positive changes and to instill the value of education in their minds” and improve eventually their performance at school.

“To our staff, we desire to help them realize their aspiration and be agents of positive changes… To the parents, we aspire to establish strong partnership in helping their children reach their full potentials,” she said.

Behind a quality tutorial center are instructors who are well-trained in the field of teaching and whose skills are honed with past experiences. They are:
