Custodio: Keep your cool

DO YOU ever get that feeling when you are so fed up with someone, you just want to give them more that a piece of your mind? More than just unfriending them in social media, you just want them out of your life?

Maybe it won’t be permanently but it is apparent that the “space” would do both of you good. Some people can be so toxic that we need to purge our lives and be without them!

It is so disheartening to see negativity all around you, you have to know how much that can affect how you conduct your day and how you communicate with others. Ugh. At some point, you realize that you need to back up or walk away for your own good.

Well, do that. Take the high road. Do what you think is best. For most of us, arguing would be totally futile. It may work for certain issues, so pick your battles wisely. Just think that all the negativity need not be met head on. That would be so much stress! So unhealthy for the body and soul! We often find ourselves up to the neck dealing with our personal turmoil that taking on external oppression would be too much, if not, stupid.

But hey, there are things in life that we cannot control, sometimes we are forced to confront these things. In times like this, try and keep your head above water. Keep your cool. After all, when we are calm we think clearly and this does so much for us when we make important decisions.

“No problem can be resolved with the same level of consciousness that created it.” Yup, Einstein really was a wise man, take his word for it! Hotheads will have a hard time seeing things objectively so it is better to cool of your heels before embarking on finding answers to your issues.

Take deep breaths. Mindful breathing helps. Slow, deep breaths that allow you to relax and be calm enough to think clearly for your own good.

Paying attention how you breathe in and out calms the mind and allows the rest of the body to calm down. It is like meditating. Allow yourself to focus on one thing--your precious breathing. Block out all the other stimuli around you so that you can experience a bit of inner peace, even for just a bit.

Deny any bad vibes so that you can gain clarity as well as positivity to cheer you up to help you get through the day. Breathe in and breathe out hanging on to each moment with much appreciation for the gift of life that has been given to you.

Think happy thoughts. We all have a pockets filled with happiness stocked secretly somewhere in our lives. Use it every time the need arises. We have great memories that always make us smile whenever we take the time out to reminisce them. We have small victories in each day that allow us to rejoice and give ourselves pats on the back. We can choose to be happy for the seemingly smallest reasons if we want to.

Small things count because they add up to bigger things that help us see the more beautiful and lighter side of life! Pick small packets of bliss over huge letdowns and disappointments. That should really be a no-brainer!

Learn to let go. Arrgh. We know that it is easier said than done. This really is difficult to do! We like holding on to things, especially the ones that we have spent time on or with. We seem too hesitant to give up on certain things or people even when they have ceased to do us any good. When you have you have done all you can and yet it wasn’t good enough, you must accept it. Do not hold on to things out of regret, remorse or revenge. Just let it go! It will feel disconcerting at first, but it gets better.

Do not equate it with losing because you are really doing it for yourself, so that you can go on to doing other things! Sometimes we get stuck with the thoughts in our head to the point of overthinking. We all know that overthinking is oftentimes, not a good thing. Much as we hate to admit it, we are often too hard on ourselves- sometimes reality can be kinder than our thinking.

Relax lang. Let us all try to take things as they come. React as calmly as possible. Cool lang. Things happen for a reason. Some things are meant to be, some are meant to teach us important life lessons. Keep calm so that you can see things with better clarity. Try to be more objective and less emotional when making decisions. Be willing to accept that not all things fall in your favor because when you are, facing life’s challenges will be much easier.

Happy Sunday Everyone!
