Introducing 'De' Channel

DAVAO TV will never be the same this July 5 as the much awaited and much-talked Davao's newest lifestyle based community TV channel on cable, "De" Channel (De-Light Your Senses) will make a big launch.

According to manager/producer Joey Sy Domingo, "De (dee) will be the trendsetter for local cable television programming and we are excited to unveil the channel this July 12, with a succession of its shows launching like Indie in-depth last June 7 at Cinematheque Davao and Money Talks at SM City Davao Annex Activity Area last June 20."

"This newest channel seeks to redefine local cable TV programming by producing world class shows catering to today's young and hip Davao crowd," she added.

I am most excited about the Indie in-depth show that features independent movies or short films made by Davao filmmakers. It is about time that indie movies should be highlighted, when local channels become boring and for people who obviously wanted a more explosive good time.

I guarantee that De Channel will present a fresh slate to television audiences especially with the fad-like popularity of indie films looming, nowadays.

Held at Cinematheque Davao on Palma Gil St. Davao City, the event highlighted with the presence of Peter Philip Lat, FDCP regional coordinator in Davao City, and giving out limited edition of De merchandize as prizes and the launching of Indi In-depth's first episode, "Sintunado," directed by CJ Liamzon, a story about a broken-hearted man whose life went out of tune and "Masaligan," directed by Gary Bautista, about a man's struggle to perform his duty and preserve his honor.

This show also allows independent filmmakers to send in their works in DVD copy to the associate producer of the show, Melissa B. Pintor, at 59-B Aala Bldg., F. Inigo St., Davao City.

The show "Money Talks" also made a big campaign at SM City Annex. The show will feature random people on the street doing different challenges or answering trivial questions all for the prize of the week, giving the viewers a light and funny game show for every Juan.

With its show's launch, they also conducted the first ever in Davao City, "Beatbox Challenge." The show's judges include Kervy Salazar a.k.a. Duke of Pilipinas Got Talent, Beatbox Gor of Talentadong Pinoy and Joey Sy-Domingo, general manager of De.

Fifteen Beat box hopefuls outwit one another. The event was so in-demand, that participants had to be trimmed down, with contestants from far flung areas like Panabo and Gen. Santos City joining the challenge.

Winners won cash prizes and trophies.

The 15 hopefuls were as follows:
