Patawid Trade Fair yields P1.3M in sales

TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- Local entrepreneurs generated a sales of P1.3 million during the recent Patawid Agri-Industry Trade fair of the 6th City Founding Anniversary and 12th Matagoan Festival here.

Wena Buston of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Kalinga said the consolidated sales report revealed a total of P787,481.20 were collected by the gifts, house wares and decors section, P291,564.90 for the homemade food products, P154,986.00 for the ornamental plants section, while other industries reported a collection of P80,707.83.

Meanwhile, certain local producers were cited developing quality products.

Proclaimed winners for the “Best Product” category were the Bamboo Chair of the E-Bros. Antiques and Modern Furniture Shop under the Gifts and Home Decors/Handicrafts sector; Straw Flower of Peralta’s Souvenir Shop under the recycled crafts sector; Shekinah’s Malunggay Cookies of Sally’s Bakery under Processed Foods; and under the Indigenous Wine Category, two wine makers tied for the spot namely the Mananig Bugnay Wine by Mananig MPC and G’Bar Sugarcane Wine of the garcia’s Sugarcane products.

Best Product winners also include the Gaddang Attire of KINWA Etnika under the Wearables/Garments, the zipper necklace/bracelet/earrings of the Balik Tribo Fashion Accessories for the Wearable/Fashion Accessories, Special Buko Pie of Sally’s Bakery for the Best Pasalubong (food products), and the Abacca Bag Pasalubong Kit of Praj’s Pasalubong Center and General Merchandise as Best Pasalubong (non-food).

During the event, the ornamental plants section also had a contest on flower arrangement making for a table centerpiece and bridal bouquet. Both arrangements were won by the JAM’s Flower Garden.

The Best Dressed Booths, on the other hand, were won by the Peralta’s Souvenir Shop (Gifts, Toys and House ware Sector), Elda’s Homemade Products (Processed Foods Section), and Ashley Ornamentals (Ornamental Plants Sector).

Carolina Manadao of Jenica’s Garden was named as the Best Exhibitor.

The five-day trade fair has become an annual occasion highlighting the Matagoan Festival and city anniversary celebrations to provide the local entrepreneurs and manufacturers an opportunity to market, promote and sell their locally made products. This is also part of the tourism development plan to promotion Tabuk City as a prime destination. (Geraldine G. Dumallig)
