RESIDENTS in Galaxy, Purok 4, Barangay Gusa, Cagayan de Oro, Sunday morning discovered a dead body placed inside a sack.
Senior Inspector Evan Viñas, chief of the Agora police station, said the body was already in a state of decomposition that authorities could hardly identify the victim.
Viñas said witnesses’ accounts revealed that the body was dumped by a driver of a white pickup truck without plate number in a vacant lot in the area on Saturday afternoon. However, residents only found out that it was a cadaver on Sunday morning.
The victim wore black t-shirt printed with “alien” on it and a pair of short pants.
Viñas said the victim was brutally killed.
He said the victim has several tattoos in his body, but they have yet to determine his affiliation to a group of criminals in the city.
Dr. Christian Caballes of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) assessed that the victim died was strangled using a cable wire.
“Wala ho siyang injuries sa katawan o ulo. (It could be) asphyxia due to strangulation,” Caballes said.
Earlier reports revealed that the victim has several tattoos in his body including a mark of BM-29.
The Soco recovered cable wires and a packaging tape at the crime scene that was likely used to strangle the victim to death.
Residents ignored a sack dumped in the area thinking that it was only a dead dog or any animal or garbage.
Later, they noticed a foul smell coming out from the sack, when they decided to take a look, they found a dead body.
