Police to tap barangays for peace and order

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will tap the help of barangay captains in the city to help maintain the peace and order within their areas of responsibility.

BCPO Acting Director Edgardo Ordaniel said Thursday that he will tap the help of barangay captains to utilize their barangay tanods to ensure the peace and order in their barangay.

He said it was observed that crimes increase every month of July and August.

Ordaniel said that, in spite of their efforts, there were still crimes against persons in different areas of Bacolod. He said the barangay tanods are a big help to the police to conduct visibility patrol in their respective barangays.

Police and barangay tanods should conduct visibility patrol to pre-empt the possible operation of lawless elements, especially at night, Ordaniel said.

He said the barangay captains should also help the city police to lessen the crime incidents within their areas of responsibility, especially the ‘akyat-bahay’ and robbery hold-ups.

Ordaniel also directed all the station commanders to intensify their campaign against ‘akyat-bahay’ and to enhance their visibility patrol and pro-active measures within their areas of responsibility.
