Thousands to attend Marian event in Clark

CLARK FREEPORT -- Thousands of Catholic Marian devotees are expected to flock to the historic Parade Grounds here for the September 7-8 visit and “59th Canonical Coronation of Virgen de los

Remedios” set on September 7 and 8.

The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has prepared a traffic routing system to cope up with the influx of vehicles and devotees in the freeport.

The CDC website stated that the image of Virgen de los Remedios (with the image of “Sto. Cristo de Perdon”) will arrive at Chapel 2 in Clark at 9:30 in the morning and a mass will follow at 11:00. The

grand ceremonies and procession will be in the following day, September 8 at the Parade Grounds.

Based on the schedule, the two-day vigil is a continuous prayer of the Holy Rosary.

The annual event coincides with the 59th canonical coronation anniversary of Virgen de los Remedios.

It is believed that the devotion to Virgen de los Remedios in Manila and Pampanga started during the Spanish era.

Marian devotions are important to the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and Anglican.

The devotees believe that numerous favors and blessings will be received by being a Marian devotee. (Gail Pintor Cunanan)
