Joel Torre gets international acting trophy

SEASONED actor Joel Torre bagged the Best Actor trophy for the independent movie "On The Job" (OTJ) during the 17th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea.

Joel played a middle-aged hired killer in the film.

The movie directed by Erik Matti also won the Jury's Choice.

"OTJ" was one of the few Filipino films screened at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival in France earlier this year.

Torres, with other lead stars Rayver Cruz, Gerald Anderson and Piolo Pascual, all attended the gala and red carpet premier in Europe.

Film giant Star Cinema and Reality Entertainment will distribute the local release of the film starting August 28.

The action-thriller is part of the continuing grand 20th anniversary celebration of the ABS-CBN's film outfit.

The film's other cast are Joey Marquez, Shaina Magdayao, Angel Aquino and Empress Schuck. (Sunnex)
