Board to pass P160-M for Cyber Center

THE Negros Occidental Government will avail itself of P160 million loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) for the completion of the second phase of the Negros First Cyber Center, said Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. on Monday.

Marañon disclosed the loan amount as members of the Provincial Board led by Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson had agreed and confirmed of the approval of the loan during its regular session on Wednesday.

The governor said the remaining P20 million to complete the P180 million needed for the Cyber Center would be sourced from the unrestricted budget of the province.

Marañon had agreed for the reduction of the loan as suggested by Lacson after an Executive-Legislative meeting held last week.

This came upon the completion of the hearing conducted by the committees on Infrastructure and Finance about the need for raising such amount for the completion of the Cyber Center.

Marañon also said the amount after the Provincial Budget officer had come up with the final figure for the loan and the amount which could be sourced from the provincial funds.

The Provincial Government has also availed of P450 million loan for the first phase of the Cyber Center which will house commercial centers at the ground floor and call center spaces at the second and third floors.
