ABOUT a thousand Manila-bound passengers in Negros Occidental were stranded at the Bacolod Reclamation Area Port Monday after the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) did not allow the voyage of two passenger vessels of 2GO, formerly Negros Navigation, due to Typhoon “Labuyo.”
The PCG disallowed St. Thomas Aquinas vessel to set sail for its 11:45 a.m. trip scheduled last Sunday and another vessel, St. Leo the Great, due to rough seas.
The passengers were properly advised by the PCG.

Meanwhile, the Negros Occidental Government and the Municipal Government of Manapla gave out relief assistance to small fisherfolk in five critical coastal areas in Manapla.
Provincial consultant Manuel Escalante identified the areas as Punta Salong, Punta Mesa, Tortosa, Barangay 2, and Barangay 2-A.
The daily needs of small fisherfolk, he added, were affected because they have not gone fishing for the past days due to big waves due to inclement weather condition.
Most of the small fisherfolk, he further stressed, are also beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Relief assistance include sardines, rice and noodles.
