Capas reports healthy financial standing

CAPAS, Tarlac -- The Municipal Government of Capas, Tarlac headed by Mayor Antonio “TJ” Rodriguez performed above average in terms of income generation, garnering significant increases.

This was manifested in a written report by Rodriguez, which is written in Capas’ native Kapampangan language in preparation for his State of the Municipality Address (Soma).

Due to the influx of new investors and efficiency in governance, business permit collections rose from P44,037,935 in 2005 to 2009 to a remarkable P79,457,482 covering the period 2010 to 2015, depicting an 80 percent increase.

Records also show that Capas’s annual budget this year stood at P278,069,878, or P121,789,004 higher than its P156,280,874 budget in 2009, the year before Rodriguez took over as mayor.

Meanwhile, the internal revenue allotment of Capas stood at P82,149,829 increasing by P214,359,177 this year from the P132,209,348 in 2009.

Revenues generated by the town this year reached P63,710,701 or P63,710,701 higher than the previous level of P24,071,526.

Rodriguez based the rise in the town’s finances on the entry of fresh private investments and increase in real estate tax collections.

On the other hand, the town’s Real Property Tax (RPT) collections in 2011 to 2014 also increased from P5,503,862 to P15,623,164 from the P10,119,302 tax-take in 2007 to 2010. (Gail Pintor Cunanan/Contributor)
